General Information

East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative distributes electricity to more than 6,800 member-consumers. We energize over 8,400 meters in 11 counties:

• Iowa
• Johnson

The Cooperative's offices are located in Urbana, Iowa. ECI REC maintains over 2,250 miles of electric lines and employs nearly 40 people.

ECI REC has two operations centers to serve our member-consumers more efficiently, one in Vinton and one in Independence. They each support a full line crew and member services department.

Members Have a Voice

As a cooperative, ECI REC is owned jointly and controlled equally by those we serve. ECI is a business enterprise more interested in providing reliable service to our member-consumers than in making money.

Our member-consumers share in the governance and ownership of the Cooperative and can vote on proposals and choose representatives to sit on the Board of Directors.
